Jalapeno Cornbread

1 cup yellow corn meal
1 can whole kernel corn
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1 chopped jalapeno pepper
2 eggs (beaten)
1 cup buttermilk
chopped pimento (to taste)
1/2 melted margarine or butter
1 cup cheddar cheese
1 medium onion (chopped)

Preheat oven to 350. Mix all ingredients (except cheese). Pour into well greased 9x9 pan. Bake for 45 minutes. Last 10 minutes add cheese to top and continue baking until bubbly.
